Community MLK Arts Program at the BACE Community Center. BACE also sponsors and/or participates in other MLK events (such as the United Ebony Societyโ€™s annual MLK Parade in Gwinnett).


Kwanzaa (December)

In partnership with other organizations including Alliance for Black Lives, we support in-person and virtual Kwanzaa events.  We also support the annual Kwanzakkah event led by the Black Jewish Liberation Collective.

Annual Black History Program (February)

Our annual Black History, Art, Culture, and Education Community Celebration showcases the tremendous talent of youth artists. This event is a vibrant demonstration of the rich history and contributions of the Black community. We aim to inspire joy as guests experience mesmerizing performances that highlight the beauty of Black art and culture. All are welcome to appreciate and celebrate Black art, culture, and education.

IMPACT:

2024: Over 450 people in attendance (full house) to witness talented youth from Georgia showcase their talents. Attendees also had the opportunity to patronize culturally specific vendors and experience the amazing art gallery by K. Alexander Galleries. Main Sponsor: Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta

Health, Healing, Harmony & Hope (January & June)

The โ€œHealth, Healing, Harmony, & Hopeโ€ sessions focus on culturally specific health, spirituality, and wellbeing. The purpose of the sessions are to engage in a safe space to practice self-care. The sessions provide yoga, meditation, sound bath, dedicated time for journaling, connections and conversations, and food. 

IMPACT 2024: Over 40 special guests participated in a day of yoga, meditation, sound bath, and dedicated time for journaling. They also engaged in an interactive mental health care discussion where they enjoyed good food and conversation.

Juneteenth (June)

In partnership with other organizations including Alliance for Black Lives, we support in-person and virtual Juneteenth events.  We also support the annual Juneteenth event led by the Black Jewish Liberation Collective. 


Annual Festival (October)

Our annual festival is held at the Suwanee Town Center Park, 330 Town Center Avenue, Suwanee, GA. This is a free fun family event where people of all backgrounds may attend to appreciate and support Black art and culture. Attendees enjoy live music, poetry, and dance performances. They also have the opportunity to support local artists, art vendors, and food trucks as they present their unique creations, products, and serve delicious food. 

IMPACT

2021 – 2023

Steady year over year increase (from 700 to 2000) in festival attendees with repeat vendors, artists, and community members. Main Sponsor (2023): Gwinnett Creativity Fund

CommUNITY Events (Various dates throughout the year)

We organize community events that range in a variety of topics from safety and security to mental health and wellbeing, to family and community engagement, and more.
